We are hiring up to two postdoctoral fellows to contribute to ongoing research in stress science. Postdocs will be part of the Aging, Metabolism and Emotions Center (amecenter.ucsf.edu) which hosts many research projects on psychoneuroimmunology, metabolism, sleep, aging, contemplative science interventions, climate distress, and pregnancy health. Postdocs will also contribute to the NIA Stress Measurement Network, https://www.stressmeasurement.org. The goal of the Network is to better understand the relationship between stress and health by improving the measurement of various types of social and biological stress, fund innovative pilot studies, and bring together experts from around the world to debate, improve, and develop innovative measures of stress. Stress Network leadership includes co-directors Drs. Elissa Epel and Wendy Berry Mendes, associate directors Drs. Aric Prather and George Slavich, and executive director Dr. Yoobin Park.
The postdoctoral scholars will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects focused on stress, emotional well-being, and physiological health and develop an independent line of research as a strong foundation for a research career. There will also be opportunities to work on a mega study on stress, and studies of biosensors and daily experiences of emotions, sleep physiology, and health behaviors. We are also seeking applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups who are interested in submitting a diversity supplement, with strong mentorship from the Stress Network leadership. Ideal candidates will have a PhD in psychology or a related field, demonstrated skills in scientific publishing and presentation, and strong quantitative data analysis skills. Start date is flexible, with August/September 2025 preferred.
If interested, please send us a brief email stating your research interests and your CV by April 30th, 2025; acceptance will be rolling, so earlier applications are recommended. Emails and any questions should be sent to elissa.epel@ucsf.edu, and aric.prather@ucsf.edu.
